Cook's Mesa Campground

Looking for free camping near Capitol Reef National Park? Cook’s Mesa is free, dispersed camping near Capitol Reef National Park and just outside of Torrey, Utah. This area has plenty of spots where you can set up camp. Since this is an undesignated site you should pack out what you pack in. Most of the time the local BLM office leaves a couple of porta potties in the area. It is fairly easy to find spots of service around the campground area to make phone calls or send texts. Check with the local BLM field office before starting a campfire to make sure there are not any fire restrictions. This is a great location to camp if you are planning on visiting the national park or running any of the Capitol Reef canyoneering routes. This campsite can get full quickly on holiday weekends during the summer since it is first come first serve. Cook’s Mesa is also friendly to RV camping near Capitol Reef.
